Book club held at the Nairobi Contemporary Art Institute on 28th May 2025.
For this Menstrual Health Awareness Month, the book club explored the power of art in challenging period stigma.
The discussion focused on Period Matters: Menstruation in South Asia, an anthology edited by Farah Ahamed, featuring poems, essays, and artworks that reflect the diverse experiences of menstruation across the region.
The session included a menstrala (art inspired by menstruation) workshop where participants were able to creatively engage with period-related themes.
Led by Farah Ahamed, the session provided a space to reflect, create, and discuss how art can promote menstrual dignity and break taboos.
